My Saalt Wear leakedUpdated a year ago
To avoid leaking in your Saalt Wear, it's important to understand how much you bleed and how much fluid your style will hold. Much like a pad, when the gusset of your Saalt Wear is full, it will leak. If you start to feel damp or notice your flow spreading to the seams, this means you should change into a fresh pair. We suggest bringing along a resealable pouch, or go bag — so that if you do need to change out of your first pair, you've got a secure place to put them.
A light absorbency style will hold 1 tampon (5 mL, or 1 tsp) of fluid. A regular absorbency style will hold 2 tampons (10-15 mL, or 2-3 tsp) fluid. Our heavy absorbency Saalt Wear can hold up to 4 tampons (20 mL, or 4tsp) of fluid, and our super absorbency can hold 8+ regular tampons worth of flow (50 mL, or 10tsp). Menstrual flow consists of a lot of different elements, from clots to a more watery consistency. These elements can impact how quickly the fabric technology can absorb your flow, even if you're only spotting. Some factors that contribute to leaking in your Saalt Wear are:

- Style and absorbency level
- If you're a front bleeder, wearing Saalt Wear for incontinence, or looking for a longer gusset we recommend our Leakproof High Waist, Leakproof French Cut High Waist, Comfort Brief, Comfort Boyshort, or Seamless Brief. Front bleeders and those seeking incontinence protection should avoid bikini styles.
- Know your flow. To understand how long your Saalt Wear will perform for you, we recommend trying them at home first. Having a good understanding of how much your current liners or tampons hold will help you know how long your Saalt Wear will perform for you. Example: one regular tampon holds 5 mL (1 tsp) fluid. If you go through 4 regular tampons in one day, one heavy absorbency Saalt Wear, or two regular absorbency pairs of Saalt Wear should support you.
- Using fabric softener when washing your Saalt Wear
- Fabric softener repels fluid. A build-up of fabric softener on your Saalt Wear will prohibit the gusset from performing.
- Drying your Saalt Wear in the dryer
- Drying your Saalt Wear in the dryer will break down the elastane in your underwear faster contributing to side leaking. The leg holes of your underwear must fit snugly around your legs. Just like your other performance clothing and delicates, we recommend always hanging your Saalt Wear to dry. 🌞
- Fit
- If your Saalt Wear are too loose around your leg holes, this can lead to leaking. In order to perform their best, Saalt Wear should fit well.
