Removing a Saalt DiscUpdated 5 months ago
We have lots of tips to help you along your new Saalt Disc journey. When it comes to disc removal, the most important thing to remember is to relax. Take some deep breaths and get comfortable. If you have just woken up or had sex with your disc inserted, make sure to walk around for 30 minutes to give gravity a chance to do its thing. It can be challenging to remove your disc if you need to evacuate your bowel or if you're constipated. We recommend going to be bathroom first before attempting to remove your disc.
You will want to locate your disc by inserting a clean finger into the vaginal canal and locating the removal notch.
If your disc has rotated and you cannot reach the notch - no worries! You can remove the disc by pinching any part of the rim. Or you can also use your finger to gently rotate the disc until you can get ahold of the removal notch.
If your disc is sitting too high for your finger to reach, just know that this is very common for those with higher cervixes. You can move the disc lower by getting in a squatting position or sitting on the toilet and raising your knees, and then taking deep belly breaths and gently bearing down.
Once you get ahold of the disc, simply hook it to untuck it from behind the pubic bone and gently bring it down and out of the vaginal canal. Try to keep the disc horizontal as you remove it to prevent the contents from spilling. While the removal notch is helpful for many people, you can also hook your finger over any part of the rim to remove it. Many menstrual cups on the market do not have a removal notch; hooking your finger over the rim to remove it is perfectly okay.
